Tournament Bass MH

The TBS71MHF is under rated but super veratile. I have used mine in fresh water for Hybrid stipers & salt for Reds/Trout & False albacore. This rod is light & stiff with a super fast tip. Locks up in the first third of the rod & with 30gram lures it will cast a mile with at 4000 Stella. If you want a light Saltwater rod with serious grunt this is it, but it will also toss soft plastics well & gives super hook sets.

Unbelievable

I have the model from the year before this and it is simply amazing. You really get what you paid for. I never thought I'd pay so much for a rod but after handling one at the store I was in shock, I mostly use the premiers by St. Croix and they're amazing but this is 100 times better.
They're feather weight, I don''t mean they''re like a feather, I''m not speaking metaphorically. These are actually so light you have to do a double take to make sure you''re holding a rod. Mine is a 6''6" medium paired with a Shimano Curado E51...its an awesome combo. Although I''ll probably upgrade the reel soon to better fit the rod.
This rod is sensitive enough that I can feel when my lures brushes thru grass, I can feel the difference between bass nudging the bait and taking it. Its simply awesome.
I''ll be buying a 7''+ MH soon to add to my arsenal. Hold one, you''ll never want to put it down.

I bought this rod new 2 days ago and on the 10th cast a eyelet broke. I hope this is a fluke with a highend rod. I have been impressed with St. Croix the company and their warranty. I am returning this one and hope the next St. Croix proves to be the quality I expected.

I have four Legend Tournament Bass Rods and let me state that these rods are a bit pricy. However they make the money spent well worth it. Goes back to "You get what you pay for". These rods are very comfortable and light, but strong. Which means a lot for those long days on the water. The sensitivity is simply amazing. You can feel everything!

Great but in different ways

I bought the 6'10 ML XF version specifically for drop shotting. I paired it with a Stradic Ci4 2500 and all the trimmings.
It is sensitive but the tip is not as soft as I expected but it does have a lot of power so take that for what it is worth.
Where this rod has excelled is for working lighter jigs. I use this rod with hair jigs and I have a new dynamite combo.
St Croix must have a different rating because the rod does not feel like a ML. It is very sensitive and combined with a Ci4, it is a very light out fit.
I'll continue to experiment with it for drop shotting but I might turn to a Loomis for a dedicated drop shot rod. However for lighter jigs, this will be my go-to combo.
